Good Practice of the Week: Insulate Hampshire (IH) scheme, UK

Read our case study of the week to find out how twelve local authorities developed the Insulate Hampshire (IH) scheme to reduce household energy consumption and CO2 emissions. The scheme aims to reduce CO2 emissions by improving the insulation of homes, and in the process contributing increasing comfort, cutting energy bills and combatting fuel poverty. The scheme was characterized by an innovative way of engaging communities in insulation measures.

Want ideas on funding your sustainable energy initiatives? Then read our finanical factsheet which offers tips, facts and links to different funding mechanisms currently being used by public authorites across Europe to fund their initiatives.

The factsheet summarises insights from our COOPENERGY workshop on financial instruments in Milan (20 June 2014) where several experts and officers from regional and loacal authorities, shared their expreiences and advice on funding energy initatives. 

24/02/2015: COOPENERGY partners take action to review their energy plans in partnership!

Several activities have taken place since the Coopenergy project began, to demonstrate and implement in each partner region a collaboration model - called a 'multi level governance' (MLG) model - between different administrative levels. In the Coopenergy project, a MLG approach is set up for the evaluation and revision of the Regional Sustainable Energy Action Plan in the regions that already have approved one, encouraging the participation of regional stakeholders, and specially the local public authorities.

Good Practice of the Week: Developing an Island Sustainable Energy Action Plan (ISEAP), Saare County, Estonia

Read our case study of the week to find out how the Saaremaa Island, within the county of Saare, Estonia, developed an Island Sustainable Energy Action Plan (ISEAP).

The actions were developed collaboratively, using a multi-level governance approach. Saare County coordinates, implements and monitors the ISEAP, local municipalities deliver actions within the ISEAP, and the Saaremaa Local governments Association is the decision making body that authorizes the ISEAP.

Good Practice of the Week: Using Energy and Climate Accounts in the Central Denmark Region

Read our case study of the week to find out how the Central Denmark Region has developed energy and climate accounts to monitor energy production and consumption across the region. The accounting covers the activities of the regional authority and 19 local authorities, including private energy uses. In particular the accounts monitor:

Participate in the ENERGee Watch brochure on regional energy and GHG data (by 30 January 2015)

ENERGEee Watch, the European Network of Regional GhG Emissions and Energy Watch, is producing the second edition of a brochure aiming to highlight data being collected across European regions, to support delivery of the EU '20-20-20' targets.

The brochure supports the aims of the network in standardising data at European level, to allow comparisons to be made, good practice to be shared, and for European-wide methodologies to be established.

Membership to ENERGee Watch is free of charge.
